[Happy Halloween!]

We already had a Halloween party so I can share this year's Halloween costume photo with you.

I tell you, it was SO HARD to let our daughter choose her own costume. :) I wanted her to get the dark bride costume (see the picture below) but I wasn't able to change her mind no matter how much I tried. She loved the "wing sleeves" and that was that. It's almost like I have a "live doll" and I wanted to dress her the way I wanted to dress her. I'm glad I had the self discipline to remember that Halloween is about the kids, not the parents. :)

ps. It's impossible for me to make both sides the same when face painting. How people do that, I don't know.

Friday update: Today's face painting looks better than yesterday's. Practice does help. :)

[this week]

Today was superhero day at Sienna’s school. She was little bit late for school due to me painting her face but I think it was worth it. The cutest superhero ever!

Flocks of birds (these ones were Bohemian Waxwings) – a sure sign of spring. I think it's finally spring as it was +18C today and most of the snow is gone. First playground day. Yey!

My new baby. Wish me luck for keeping it alive. I need it. ;)
Plus a cute little ceramic bird house to hang in our tree.

I love it when yet another renovation project gets done. This week it was front & back entrance tiles. What a mess it’s been (I took these photos to prove it) but so worth it when it’s all done. My back is kaput from all the floor cleaning (the grout haze is so hard to get off!) but I’m all smiles as I walk on the tiles now. I’ll try to remember to post a photo of clean tiles later. I love the tile we picked.

[this & that]

Our miniature Dahlia is blooming.

I just finished this book. I'll give it three out of five stars.
«««¶¶
The story was interesting but it felt unfinished. I kept waiting for more and then the book ended. The title doesn't seem to fit the book either. But other than those negative things, it was worth the ten bucks or so.

Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians!
Canada is such a great country to live in. I feel very blessed for all the freedoms and privileges we enjoy here. Should never take them for granted.

I'm loving the season 9 of So You Think You Can Dance. I just hope they keep it PG rated = suitable for the whole family to watch. The Canadian version of the show was so sleazy.
This guy, Cyrus, is wickedly good at what he does! Wow!

[come a bit closer]

Eli vali, vali.

{halloween}

my plan was to keep it simple this year but i have to admit that i almost lost my sanity doing sienna's face. i must have said "please stay still" about thousand times. the result was well worth it, i think.

we went to our church's halloween party. by the time this picture was taken, the butterfly had flown to a more peaceful place. the bouncy castle was just too much for such a delicate creature. :)

the kids decorated pumpkins.

halloween is my least favorite holiday. sienna is super sensitive and gets scared so easily. she's had nightmares and you can just tell she's all freaked out. i wish people thought of little kids when they decorate their front yards and decide what costume to wear.
when i dropped her off at school today, i saw so many freaky costumes. sigh.
can't wait for Christmas and the beautiful spirit it brings with it.

{canada day}

our Canada Day started with a pancake + strawberries + whipping cream breakfast

then i painted sienna's face

we went downtown for a bit

there was a petting zoo for the kids

we listened to a piano performance at the city hall

then we walked to the legislature grounds (sienna got a wagon ride). watched a dog show for a bit. went to the wading pools (there's a whole row of them).

we finished the day by eating at Montana's restaurant.
we were all too tired to even consider fireworks.

{lately}

a quick face painting

this was so much fun to color :)

another princess picture for my collection :)

sienna: "these lilacs smell so pretty. it almost makes me cry."

check out this cuter than cute swimsuit i found for a babyshower gift.

and this is what i made for gifts to sienna's teacher + teacher's aid. i hope they'll like them.
i can't believe sienna's almost done with kindergarten. grade one next year which means longer school days for sienna. i'm already missing her.
