a long time ago i came across this book by ed emberley (he has other art books for kids too). the idea is to make fingerprints with a stamping ink and then draw the prints into pictures.

here are some samples:

 if you don't happen to have an ink pad, you can always just use coloring pencils.

 here are sienna's masterpieces (she's five-years-old):

we kept sienna's cards simple this year. these will be attached to candy boxes.

the first butterfly reminds me of australian aboriginal art for some reason. 

 we've been busy reorganizing our tv/family room. much to do still but this is a good start. lots of space for all our stuff.

note to self:

please remember to put in the bread machine pan the thingy-ma-dooda that mixes the dough.
