special day

***
Hope everyone had a great Father's Day yesterday. This is what Sienna made for her daddy. We found this bead craft set from Ikea. I first wondered if Sienna would be able to do it as it's meant for children 5 years and older. But I knew Sienna loves doing intricate work like this with her fingers (she's always playing with little things, organizing them). I was right - she loved placing the tiny beads on this heart pattern thingy. Then I ironed them so they'd melt together. You can see the result in the last pictures. Beautiful! Our tradition is to get something handmade from Sienna. Family treasures.

Happy little daddy's girl.

Jay always bugs me to make him a bacon breakfast for Father's Day. For those who don't know - I HATE the smell of bacon. Jay usually only gets it if we eat out or on Christmas brunch at his parents. He kept bugging me about this so much that I thought I'd better figure something special for him to eat at least. I never cook him breakfast (what a terrible wife I am, I know). I didn't yesterday either but I did go to Sunterra Market in hopes of finding special granola for Jay. He likes gourmet granola. Turns out they didn't really have a selection of granola so I ended up with banana pecan bread (I don't know why they call it bread here, it's cake), croissants, yummy chocolate and some new kind of barbeque/marinating sauce for chicken. I tried. I'm clueless what to get him for gifts. After 17 years of marriage my surprise ideas are running low. And we're just not into spending lots of money for gifts anyway. We tend to just buy what we want ourselves.

At church something so funny happened. There's this one boy who is always sooooo funny and makes us laugh. He's always happy and always doing something cute & funny. He's 3 years old. Yesterday he piped up and announced to everyone: "Payton is my girlfriend!" (she's 3 as well). Then later he also said loudly to her: "Hey Beautiful!". Gotta love kids.
***
After church we all napped. Sienna surprised us by napping for two hours (instead of the usual 80 minutes). She had kept us up the night before for two hours (nightmares). Last night she slept through the night again. I can't figure it out.

After the nap we went to Jay's brother + wife's place for family potluck supper. Food was good and kids had fun playing. Their youngest girl was entertaining us all by stripping nude and dancing. :D What a fun little girl. Love her. Then we all went for a nice walk to a nearby pond. We were supposed to feed the geese & ducks but there were no geese and the loons wouldn't come near us. We still had fun throwing rocks in the pond, petting puppies and spinning the kids. It was fun. Of course I forgot to bring my camera so no pictures to show. Oh well, sometimes it's nice just to enjoy it without worrying about taking pictures. I snapped lots of mental pictures though. Sienna and her cousin walking hand in hand on the sidewalk, Sienna throwing rocks...

When we got home Jay gave Sienna a special father's blessing. It was so special. Sienna had been so hyper just minutes before but she totally calmed down and was quiet for the beautiful blessing. Y

oikeesti

Finlanders - Oikeesti. Kiitti Suville musavinkista.
Some Finnish music for you all (it's a love song). Make sure you first pause the music that normally plays on my blog. The video has nothing to do with the song.

Ta-daa again. Finished this yesterday. I made it for the GoodieBox challenge. The challenge was to use fabric. Well, I didn't have any cute fabric and I haven't had a chance to go buy some. I was itching to get something done so I looked around for anything I could use. I found this lace doily I never use (it's so pretty but it's not something I'd put on the table) so I thought I'd try to do something with it. Of course it reminded me of this picture of my grandma when she was young. It's my favorite picture of her. The paper I used is light blue if you can't tell in the pictures. Pretty simple layout as usual. And once again - bling bling. :D

it's official

***
It's official - I can't do a layout without bling bling. :D
This one is #24, finished it today. In case you can't tell - it has three different colored bling bling: orange, brown & lime green.
Scrapbooking is so much fun. If you haven't tried it yet - do it! :)
By the way, I don't normally worry about doing journaling on my pages. I keep a notebook for Sienna and then my own journal (plus this blog is kind of a journal too). If I feel like it, I add journaling but I feel like I don't have to since I have it somewhere else already. I just like to use the pictures I love and do something fun with them. I'm so glad that I finally realized I don't have to scrapbook all my pictures and I don't have to worry about how I scrapbook.

Sienna is so sweet. Such a fun little girl. She is so imaginative with her play and I still can't believe how well she speaks. She keeps surprising me with her amazing memory. Today she wanted to spell words from a book we were reading before her nap. She has also been learning some Finnish words and says them so cute. Kunpa vaan osaisin suomen r:n itse sanoa oikein niin Siennakin jopa oppisi sen oikein. Onneksi on tulossa sisko perheineen opettamaan sen oikein. No, pitaisi sanoa siskon mies ja tytto silla isosiskokaan ei osaa r:aa sanoa oikein. Voi meita! :) Mua harmittaa ettei koulussa pitaneet mua puheopetuksessa tarpeeksi kauaa eivatka korostaneet arran oppimista. Mun siskon mieskin oli arravikainen mutta puheopetus auttoi hanta. Mista loytaisin puheopetus harjoituksia joita voisin itse vaikka tehda kotona. Kiva olisi oppia jo tuo suomalainen arrakin. No, onneksi taalla Kanadassa sita ei tarvi sentaan. :)

Elama on todellakin maistunut vahan puulta viime aikoina. Odottelen sivuvaikutusten poismenoa. Joskus mietityttaa nama laakkeet etta miten aiheuttavat moista kun niiden pitaisi vaikuttaa johonkin ihan muuhun.
***
Sienna on nukkunut joitakin oita taas huonosti. Ahdistus vaivaa edelleen meidan pikku tyttoa. Voi pienta. Ukkonen pelottaa, otokat, oudot aanet... Herkka tytto. Kunpa keksisin mika tuohon auttaisi. Laakareista ei ole ollut apua.
***
Hauskaakin on ollut kylla. Kaytiin kavereilla hyppimassa niiden tramboliinissa. Siennalla oli tosi hauskaa silla siella oli toinen pikkutytto kaverina hyppimassa.
***
Sitten on syoty onnessamme kesaherkkuja: kirsikoita, mansikoita, grillattua lohta... Ah!
***
Muuta en nyt jaksa kirjoittaakaan. Paassa pyorii ja vasyttaa, vasyttaa. Nyt menen sohvaperunaksi tollottamaan telkkua. Muuta en jaksa.

bling bling

This is Daddy, drawn by Sienna today. Ok, I'll admit it, I drew it. Ha haa. :)
Sienna piirsi isin kuvan.

This is Robin.

Sienna seemed to love drawing these squiggly lines. I asked her if she was making abstract art and she just nodded. Then later on she said that there are baby & momma kangaroos in there (above the explanations).

Finished this today - layout #23. Loved the paper and thought I'd do a black & white layout. I envisioned the picture (that covers the main rose) to look different but oh well. It was hard to come up with something that didn't cover the roses too much. The picture looks like a country more than a rose. :) Oh well, I still like the layout. Very simple as usual. Can't forget the bling bling though. :)

Almost missed this little fairy so I thought I'd bling bling it. :)
