{you've been kidnapped!}

***
This is how we surprised Jay's mom who will turn 60 soon.
Me, Jay's sister and another daughter-in-law, showed up at her house Saturday morning while she was cleaning the house. We told her she's been kidnapped, blindfolded her, and drove her to the West Edmonton Mall. She wasn't allowed to take her blindfold off until she sat in this chair at M.A.C.'s where she got her makeup done. We bought the products she liked for her.

Voila!
Jay's mom is so beautiful. I remember the first time I saw her in 1991. Jay had picked me up from the airport and we drove to their house. Jay's parents happened to be outside and when I saw Jay's mom, I thought "wow, she's so pretty!"
She's also super nice. Couldn't have wished for a better mother-in-law.

Next we took her to this place where they take old fashioned photos.

She chose her outfit.

Fun!

Selecting the picture for printing.

Ta-daa! We thought the rifle was kinda funny.

We also crammed into a photobooth and took these. :D

How about a new hair style to celebrate the new decade? :D

(we weren't fast enough, hence the double picture of one hair style)

Then we took her trampoline jumping where she surprised us all by managing to do a back flip! At 60!!
***
Then we got smoothies and "shopped". We actually didn't buy anything. Just let her tell us what she liked. There were $400 handbags, $250 wallets, $230 gloves... How people can spend so much on things is beyond my comprehension. But she just might get one of those items when it's her real birthday.
Then we pretended they were dropping me off at home but we had arranged a surprise supper & cake with all the rest of the family. Jay made taco soup, someone brought salad, Jay's dad brought the cake...
She got a huge handmade card with pictures of her with everyone and a list of 60 things why we love her.

Surprises are fun. I'd love to hear how any of you have been surprised or have surprised someone. Inspire us some more, will you. :D

  6. Tuo on kyllä parhaimpia synttäriylläreitä joista olen kuullut! Ihana päivä naisten kesken ja mahtavaa hemmottelua anopille. Yllätysjuhla ruokineen ja kakkuineen suvun kesken varmasti kruunasi kaiken. Anoppisi on selvästi rakastettu ihminen.

Mulla ei ole jakaa omia yllärikokemuksia. En itse tykkää tulla yllätetyksi, mutta muita on ihan kiva yllättää. Missään noin kekseliäässä jutussa en kuitenkaan ole ollut mukana.
