I bought couple of Japanese magazines when I was at West Edmonton Mall (they have an asian market there) in hopes of seeing something really different and unique. To my surprise, I was disappointed. Excluding few things (including the writing), the look of these magazines was pretty much the same ol' what you find here too. Globalization is sometimes blaah. You could really see the western influence in the magazines.
I liked this house though. Fantastic to have windows as walls and trees right outside your living room. Me likey.

One of the models did look Asian. I think Asian women are beautiful. There is a trend in the Asian countries for the women to get an eye surgery so that they can have western looking eye lids. Too sad. I think Asian women look so exotic and beautiful just the way they are.

Love the funky make up. Eons ago I almost started a fantasy make up artist career. It must have been because I saw the picture of the singer Toyah with her black contact lenses, wild orange hair and clouds and birds painted on her. I think even now it would be fun to take a face painting course. Amazing what you can do with make up. Fun. And the best thing is that it comes off with soap and water.

I taught Sienna how to draw a smiley face and got this. LOVE IT!

And she drew a sun too. Sienna is not very brave when it comes to drawing. She gets frustrated when she can't draw something right away. She gets it from me. :)

I know it's a bit early but I wanted to get a head start on Sienna's birthday. I've been itching to make some of these tissue paper pom poms ever since I saw them at Martha Stewart. Love them. Easy to make! I need to make one more yellow one. Three looks better than just two.

You just fold 8 tissue paper rectangles in accordion style. Cut the ends to look like a ). Tie it with a string in the middle. Open the layers. Voila! Go make some! :)

Ok, NOW I'm outta here! :)

I've been reading through your blog and really enjoying it. I recognize the art photograph at the top of your blog. I don't remember the artist's name, but I sat in the Virgin Records Book Store at Walt Disney World Village and read the whole book cover to cover. It was so beautiful and compelling.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is stunningly beautiful. Love her smiley faces.
Who is the artist behind black line drawings on your August 14th post - I can't read Finnish, but it looks such a beautiful language. Let me know - kjmendoza@yahoo.com

Mukavaa & energista viikonloppua!
kimberly: Hi! Thanks for commenting. The art photo at the top is by Andy Goldsworthy, one of my very favorite artists. The black paper cuttings are by Heather/skinny laminx. There's a link to her blog in my blog list. I should write in English all the time but at times I'm in the mood for some Finnish. Gotta keep it up somehow, you know. :)
ReplyDeletestina: Vilkutusta. :)
Ihania koristeluita oot jo tehnyt! :) Ja hienostihan Sienna on piirtänyt, ihania!! ♥
